1. Content of consultation
The client wanted to obtain rights for an idea related to electrical components, and asked for a prior art document search.
2. Solution
Similar prior art documents were investigated through patent document searches using the Japan Patent Office’s patent information platform “J-PlatPat” and Internet searches. The search revealed several similar prior art documents. Some of these prior art documents were considered to be similar to the client’s ideas regarding materials and configurations used for electrical components. Therefore, we suggested to the client that it was necessary to identify the differences between the client’s idea and the prior art documents, and that it was necessary to elaborate on the idea in more detail.
